拔五岳的玉甑峰的壮美，这众美荟萃交融的湖山胜概，人间能得几回见？作为一项水利工程 ，这三个人工湖把当年谢灵运“千倾带远堤，万里泄长汀”的梦想变成 了现实，妙在这种包含功利目的的人巧，竟能和天工完美地熔于一炉。－－三湖可谓天人同构山水之美的一个 范例。 The three lakes(White Stone Lake,Zhongqian Lake and Dragon Mountain Lake) are the pride of Mid-Yandang.With the three lades,Mid-Yandang has its peculiar power as compared to other famous mountains.Lakes and mountains are just like pictures.Put together,even the most common mountains and lakes will be strikingly beautiful,not to mention the jadeite-like mountains and jasper-like lakes of Mid-Yangdong.The three lakes being so graceful,the lakeside peaks so beautiful and Yuzeng Peak so splendid,where else can one find such a wonderful mixture?Being a hydraulic engineering project,the three man-made lades have turned the dream of Xie Lingyun in his poem "thousand acres with dykes and ten thousand li of spit land"into a reality.It is really amazing that the ingenious creation with material gains can be integrated so well well with the natural beauty.The three lakes can be considered as the best example of beautiful landscape created through the joint efforts of heaven and man.

	西祭风光摊画屏 Xiji Scenery Compared to Painted Screen
	西漈是中雁的一个华彩乐章。以奇峰怪石为主的众多景点沿涧对列，东西绵亘 达五里之长，令人目不暇接，堪称天然画屏。西漈的峰岩姿态万千，肖物拟人 栩栩如生发，可媲美北雁，而水木清华气韵静穆亦为他处所少见，因而在审美上具有很强
的包容性，可谓雅俗共赏。西漈结构之美也令人叹为观止：自东向西 ，八折瀑起笔遒劲，足称“凤头”西龙街至浴牛潭一段为主体，内容丰富，神气饱满不愧“猪肚”；眼看山穷水尽之际，却见峰回路转，把一个桃花源般的石门胜境推到 你面前，看这最后的一笔“豹尾”来得多绝！ Xiji is a cadenza of Mid-yandang.The multifarious scenic spots with strange peaks and rare stones asymmetrically lie along the gullies and stretch for over five li,and are really too many for the eyes to take in .They can be considered as the natural painter screen.The peaks and cliffs are of myriad of postures,extremely lifelike if compared to human beings and are a big match for North-Yandang.The clear waters and quiet style can rarely be found anywhere else and are aesthetically appealing to both refined and popular tastes.The charm of Xiji so far as structure is concerned also makes one catch his breath:from the east to the west,the Eight-twist Waterfall starts with a sturdy stroke,which is referred to as "the phoenix's head" Xilong Path to yuniu Pond is the main body,rich in content and looking triumphant,which is referred to as "the pig's stomach";where the hills and the stream end and thereseems no road beyond,a scenic spot just like the Peach Blossom Park amidst surrounding elevations and winding roads is suddenly thrust upon you,how wonderful is the last stroke,the"leopard's tail".

	清溪七曲好林泉 Clear Stream with Seven Twists,Good Forests and Waters
	东西二漈为玉甑峰的两翼。西漈以峰岩取胜，东漈则以瀑潭见长。东漈有溪名东龙 街，迂回潺浮七里，串连了一系列各擅胜场的碧潭：钟潭、连珠潭、小龙潭、梅雨潭、 莲花潭，穿插于这些碧潭之间的是浣纱瀑、马尾瀑、梅雨瀑......其中梅雨瀑
和梅雨 潭乃东漈的点睛之笔，风光之美绝胜仙岩之梅雨潭。中雁好水多在三湖、东漈二景区。三湖明净妩媚，体现了水的静态美，东漈则呈示了水的流动活泼之美。中　有此动静 皆美的水态，与其山容相映扶持，自然格外光彩照人。 Dongji and Xiji are the wto wings of Yuzeng Peak.Xiji is superior in peaks and cliffs while Dongji is famous for its waterfalls and ponds.In Dongji,there is a stream called East Dragon Path,stretching for seven li with twists and turns, Little Dragon Pond,Plum Rains Pond,Lotus Flower Pond.Woven in these ponds are Huansha Waterfall,Horse-tail Waterfall,Plum Rains Waterfall,etc.Plum Rains Pond and Plum Rains Waterfall are the finishing touch of Dongji.The clear and beautiful waters are mainly in the three lakes and the Dongji.The three lakes with clear and lovely waters reflect the static charm of waters,while Dongji demonstrates the dynamic charm of waters.Endowde with this combination of static and dynamic charm,and reflected by the mountains,Mid-Yandang shines with dazzling brightness.

	山水清音鸣彩凤 Voiceless Mountains and Waters wtih Phoenix Singing
	凤凰山在白石镇西南两公里，属中雁荡山的外围景区。此处两山夹峙，势若凤凰展翅， 境内岩峦重叠，林壑秀美，以峰岩为主的各种景点多达数十处，其中　嘴、板障、穿 鼻三岩横空出世，气势磅礴，而尤以穿鼻岩为最。此岩凌空拔起五百余米，
与道士岩 （玉甑峰）遥相呼应，俗称“道士岩影”。山麓绿水绕村，平畴远铺；山上曲径通幽， 花香鸟语；林间古寺隐约，云烟飘忽，兼得田园和山林趣味。此景区粗看似属闲笔， 但若少此一笔，中雁便不免减色。对于中雁,它是一个不错的铺垫，一个精彩的预告。 Mt.Phoenix lies two kilometers southwest of White Stone Town and belongs to the peripheral scenic area of Mid-Yandang.Here,with two adjacent hills,it is just like a phoenix spreading the wings.Lying within are ranges upon ranges of mountains and lovely woods and ravines.There are over ten scenic spots with the peaks and cliffs as the mainstay,among which the three cliffs,Eagle's Mouth cliff,Board Barrier Cliff,and Piercing Nose Cliff,rise high above the world,full of power and grandeur,particularly the piercing Nose Cliff,which is over500 meters high and echoes Taoist Priest Cliff(Yuzeng Peak),known as "The Shadow of Taoist Priest Cliff",Green waters flowing round the villages at the foot with cultivated land stretching afar;winding paths leading to secluded places with birds singing and flowers giving forth fragrance;lod temples looming in the forests with clouds and smokes moving swiftly--this area has the charm of both fields and gardens and mountain forest.This area,at a glance,seems a careless stroke, but Mid-Yandang will lose much of its luster without it.It is nice foreshadowing and wonderful forecastion of Mid-Yandang.

	刘公幽谷别有天 Liugong Valley,a Heavenly Abode
	刘公谷是中雁荡山取外围的一个景区，它和杨八洞分处于一山的两面。这个斜立的 小峡谷得名于当地历史上的一位贤吏的姓氏，这位贤吏的德政之一是组织开挖了一条至今 仍在发挥作用的运河。这个景区的不少带神话色彩的景点都跟这位历史人物有关，因而充满 了一和温馨的人文竟
味。刘公谷的自然景观也自有特色：石桥横亘，匹练高悬，而更多的潭、岩、洞、瀑种种景观深藏不露，或仅微现一角，远望颇似一幅意境悠远的国画山水立轴。又最 近平原市廛，谁都可以一脚踏进去、立地成为画中人。 Liugong Valley is a scenic spot in the outermost layer of Mid-Yandang.It is on one side of a hill,with Yangba Cave lying on the other side.The valley was named after the surname of a local virtuous government official,one of whose accomplishments was the digging of a canal that is still being used today.He is associated with many scenic spots with mythological clolring in this area,providing it with a warm human flavor.Its nateral scenery also has distinguishing features:a stone bridge lying across like a white ribbon,the ponds,cliffs,caves, waterfalls and other scenery are either hidden or slightly visible.If you look at it from afar,it is just like a vertical scroll of chinese landscape painting rich in implication.If you go closer, it seems a place where anyone can step in and become a person in the picture.

	盖竹洞天日月长 Gaizhu Fairyland Lasting for Ever
	杨八洞（又称盖竹洞）是中雁荡的一段“引文”，它本身也是一个独立的作品。当中 雁荡还叫作白石山的时候，它的大名早已载入宋代道书《云笈七签》，被尊为“天下第十九 洞天”。作为道教胜地，杨八洞有一种浓厚的神话仙语氛围，单那彼
此连的八个洞府的名字： 宝光、观音、透天、透海、龙滚、八仙、混元、玉蟾，即可见一端；而满山谷的松风竹韵，更使这种氛围得到了强化。杨八洞在人间而非天上，因此，不妨把它看作是中雁荡引用的一个民间 故事。 Yangba cave(also called Gaizhu Cave)is an introduction to Mid-Yandang and it is a piece of work in its own.When Mid-Yandang was stilled called White Stone Mountain,it had been recorede in Yunji Qiqian,a Taoist book in the Song Dynasty and was referred to as "The Nineteenth Heavenly Abode in the World".As a famous resort for Taoism,Yangba Cave is strong in the atmosphere of a fairyland,which can be easily seen from the names of its eight caves;Precious Light,Guanyin,Piercing the Sky,Penetrating the Sea ,Dragon Rolling,Eight Immortals,Hunyuan,and jade Toad.The pine trees and bamboo all over the mountain strengthen the atmosphere.Yangbacave is famous for its rocks,very much like human beings and animals in legends.After all,Yangba Cave is on earth rather than in heaven,it might just be considered as a folktale introduced by Mid-Yandang.
